How to get EQ and dynamics on AUX channels with DDX3216.

Here it is a no-frills guide on how to get a full channel strip on the 4 AUX channels, enabling you to add EQ and dyamics on your monitor mixes.

1) Turn the mixer on, wait for the OS to load…
2) Press I/O button.

3) In the INPUT tab do the following:

  • CH 16..24 -> AUX/MMR
  • CH 25..32 -> BUS 9-16 (or leave default)

4) In the MULTI tab:

  • MULTI 1  -> BUS 1
  • MULTI 2  -> BUS 2
  • MULTI 3  -> BUS 3
  • MULTI 4  -> BUS 4

5) Go to fader page 17-32, for channels from 17 to 20 press ROUTING button and set as follows:

  • CH 17: pan=30L,  disable follow chan., dest. bus = 1-2, don’t route to MAIN.
  • CH 18: pan=30R,  disable follow chan., dest. bus = 1-2, don’t route to MAIN.
  • CH 19: pan=30L,  disable follow chan., dest. bus = 3-4, don’t route to MAIN.
  • CH 20: pan=30R,  disable follow chan., dest. bus = 3-4, don’t route to MAIN.

Now the signal goes from aux send 1-4 to CH 17-20, then into BUS 1-4 and finally then into the 4 multi outputs.
The faders in AUX/FX page does now act in series with CH 17-20 ones, so leave them at 0dB.
Faders 21-22 are a copy of the MAIN mix signal, leave them at -oo dB to prevent digital loops.
Faders 23-24 are a copy of the SOLO signal,  leave them at -oo dB to prevent digital loops.

Have fun!
